Hello, my name is Julien and I’m 23, an Oxylane Import Manager in Barcelona. Why Oxylane? Because it’s a company with an international dimension that matches my sporting values. Well, I have to leave you now to return to my work. My job is getting goods from the production countries to the warehouse.

My challenge is to find the best price for the best delivery time, so that my customer is satisfied with the international transport. As a first job, I looked for one with action where I could move around, speak different languages, know different countries. And with this offer from the Oxylane network, I was lucky enough to find exactly what I was looking for for a first go. I went in right at the deep end, and within just 10 days, I was at the heart of the action.

Every day you come up against problems such as documentation, transport or wrong referencing. You have to manage to find a solution to them within the same day as quickly as possible, in order to meet the deadlines. One of the most interesting aspects of my job is the interculturality or culture mix. I’m obliged to speak with people from Vietnam, Thailand, Morocco, China and India, using different languages and knowing the different cultures. I have to adapt to both my message and their messages, so that we can have a free-flowing conversation and an optimum result. 

Everyday work as an Import Manager at Oxylane (Décathlon) 

On Monday, I analyze the results from the previous week and examine all the export or import mistakes made by the team. On Tuesday I draw up the schedule for the week giving a volume forecast for my warehouse, saying to them “Look, you’re going to receive so many goods or have so much activity”. And on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, it’s operational matters i.e. solving problems and managing importing in the heat of the moment.

Career prospects for an Import Manager at Oxylane (Décathlon)

Another reason why I joined the Oxylane network is the career plan they can offer us, the possible advancements to be made. The Import Manager job is a gateway into the company but it can lead to the post of Manager of the international flows for the entire Europe zone or becoming the Logistics Department Manager in order to acquire notions of management or later joining another branch such as a Passion brand of the Oxylane network.
