In a context of constant growth and development of its R&D activities, Leosphere, a Vaisala company, is hiring a junior engineer with background and expertise in atmospheric sciences / meteorology, in remote sensors and their application in the sectors of meteorology, air quality and aviation weather.
Part of Technological and Scientific Research team, you will contribute to develop use of Wind Lidars in meteorology, air quality and aviation weather, to develop new algorithms and to perform data analysis in the framework of both internal and external R&D projects.
Your main assignments will be:
- realization of R&D projects and campaigns demonstrating benefits of Lidar technology including data monitoring and analysis
- algorithms development and improvements
- expert support to marketing, sales and business development
- involvements in scientific collaborations with research institutes and key clients
- dissemination of results and application examples in scientific publications, at conferences and expert workshops.
- identification of product improvements and new applications
- monitoring market trends at a scientific level
You are a junior engineer or a Phd in measurement techniques and atmospheric sciences. You benefit from a significant knowledge in Lidar technology. You have already participated in several R&D and/or customer projects and are recognized for your strong technical, analytical and synthetic skills . You have already some understanding and knowledge about the application of wind Lidars in ideally the three target sectors of this position (meteorology, air quality and aviation weather). You are rigorous, autonomous and reliable in your achievements. You communicate efficiently and easily within a project.
Technical knowledge and skills
General physics/engineering knowledge including data processing, ideally fluid mechanics and knowledge of the Lidar technology
Knowledge of atmopsheric sciences, in meteorology, air quality and if possible aviation weather
Strong programming skills in Matlab or Python
Professional English, other languages appreciated (French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese)
