Technical Summer Placements
The Technical Profession consists of 500 science, technology, engineering and maths specialists, who mainly have degrees in chemistry, physics, maths, materials science and chemical engineering disciplines. They work in multi-disciplined teams spread right across the company, but mostly based on the Sellafield site in Cumbria. They focus on solving short (few days), medium (1-2 years) and long term (5-10 years) technology challenges.
All members of the Profession have or are developing a technical specialist skill and are linked to at least one of our technical specialist communities (called CoEs - Centres of Expertise). These build networks with other specialists inside and outside Sellafield Ltd, particularly with the National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) which has a laboratory on the Sellafield site, and with academia, including links with key universities.
