You join the "Risk and Health Impact Assessment" Service within the Chemical and Physical Health Risks Scientific Direction.
You work mainly in the context of research projects in toxicology (in vitro tests, in silico methods, transcriptomes, AOP,...) and health hazard and risk assessment
You are a project manager and have to attract funds and defend your projects to sponsors.
You actively seek opportunities to submit research projects in your field and seek collaborations with other Sciensano services, universities or national and international organisations.
You prepare reports for authorities, sponsors, ...
You present the results of your research at national and international congresses and - you publish the results in scientific journals.
You carry out toxicological assessments and prepare opinions on the risks of chemical substances for national and international authorities and organisations that influence health policy decisions.
You provide support to the authorities: advice on the hazards and risks of chemical substances, answers to questions from the authorities, parliamentary questions, advice during crises concerning chemical risks.
You participate in meetings with experts, stakeholders, authorities, etc.
You participate in the service's activities and meetings
Scientist with a PhD in Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Biology or Biomedical Science
Training in toxicology
Research experience (at least 5 years), mainly in in vitro studies, in silico methods (QSAR), transcriptomes, epigenetic mechanisms, ...
Expertise in Risk Assessment
Experience in team management and collaboration with national and international scientific organisations
Experience or interest in attracting research funding
Assets : experience in working with a quality system; experience in bioinformatics and/or adverse outcome pathway (AOP) development
Generic skills: autonomy, initiative and responsibility; stress resistant; result oriented; good communication skills (oral and written); team spirit and team management
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written); FR or/and NL
A full-time permanent employment contract
