The Financial Engineering Data stream of our Options Graduate Programme is our exciting new addition for 2021! This stream is perfect for graduates with a technical background who are keen to fast track their career in finance. You will be afforded the opportunity to work directly with some of the world's top financial institutions on live projects, while also undertaking a structured training programme and expanding on your technical skills. Prior finance knowledge is not required as our world-renowned training programme will cover a wide range of courses across a number of areas - we are looking for graduates who are keen to learn and kickstart their career in the capital markets industry.
Those chosen for this stream will help us continue to provide tailor-made solutions, from consulting to support models to other technology services. You may fill technical Business Analyst roles across front, middle and back-office operations.
The Capital Markets Training Programme (CMTP) is a two-year programme will incorporate regular assessments and reviews to help you challenge yourself and guide your learning. The unique combination of on-the-job training and academic learning will enable you to gain knowledge and experience to build a strong foundation for a successful career in the FinTech industry.
In the FE Data stream, you will complete a series of finance modules as well as data specific modules, including Python, Cloud, Data Visualisation and more.
What types of projects will I be working on?
As a Financial Engineer - Data, there is a wide variety of projects available for you to, including Data Management, Data Analysis and development of Data Solutions within our financial services client base. Project teams may vary in focus from Machine Learning, Cloud technologies, Data Modelling, etc.
The types of projects you could be placed on may be short term, to simply solve a problem, or longer term if a permanent role is vacant and needs to be filled. Generally, you will work on each client project for 6-8 months, so there is the possibility you may work on 3-4 different projects over the two year period.
The Options Programme will offer you a fast-track opportunity to work with some of the world's top financial institutions. You will gain valuable experience and exposure working in a variety of roles for a diverse client base. On client site, as well as developing your Capital Markets knowledge, you will develop your interpersonal and presentational skills, as well as learning how to be adaptable and resilient under pressure. The formal training will further enhance your financial, technical and consultancy skills. The knowledge and attributes you will gain both on client site and through formal training will help you to identify and work towards the direction you'd like to take your career in the longer term.

There really is no 'typical day' as a Financial Engineer! Projects and roles vary significantly depending on your client, your skillset and what city you are based in. This makes the role incredibly diverse and dynamic. You could be working as part of a small or larger team to measure business performance by collecting, extracting or validating data or you could be running real-time data infrastructure and using additional applications to obtain actionable insights for the client.

Strong academic background - ideally ABB or above at A-Level (or equivalent) and a 2.1 degree in mathematics, data science, physics, computer science or other similar STEM disciplines
