To develop our game we are looking for 2-3 with a game design background who is eager to get their hands involved in the making of a new game.

About our game
Tectonicus: on the edge of war, synthesizes mechanics of turn-based strategies, auto-battlers and card games. To succeed, you are to use strategic thinking when placing heroes, commanders and units on the board, as well as building synergic decks that emphasize each faction's unique strengths.

Apart from online and local PvP battles, Tectonicus will be featuring a full-scale story mode. The player will be called to restore the historical truth lost in contradicting accounts and theories, rewritten history and scholars' disputes, by reincarnating significant battles and living through them as warlords, across centuries.

The position & Responsibilities
The tasks will be varied and you will have a lot of freedom in defining what you will do and identifying what needs to be done. You will assume a central function in the team.

We need you to move our card gameplay forward.

Your main task is from a game design angle translate high-level ideas into world-class features, game mechanics, and experiences. You will be an architect of the overall game experience. You will be working closely with the Game Director and History Consultants to ensure that the overall vision and direction of the game are adhered to.

Your tasks will include such things as:
  • Under the coordination of the Producer and Director, working with artists and programmers to make sure that the creative vision is fulfilled
  • Designing fun and immersive gameplay mechanics and meta-game features drives them from concept and documentation through prototyping, polishing, and release
  • Creating and maintaining design documentation that keeps pace with the project's progress, and accurately conveys all necessary information to departments
  • Setting creative goals and deliverables for the Art and Dev departments
  • Creating fun and balanced missions. Balancing and tuning each mission or area to create combat experiences that are fun for diverse playstyles
  • Assisting in checking and ensuring the quality of the game version, and ensuring the features are implemented correctly
  • Proactively working to improve the product on a regular basis (e.g. propose improvements to levels, features, etc)
  • Gaining a deep understanding of our small but growing community

  • Design experience from work or your degree
  • knowledge of Game Design concepts (gameplay, learning curve, core game loop, balancing, reward system, player retention mechanics, etc)
  • Knowledge of card games, strategy games or history games
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Able to illustrate and/or prototype ideas visually
  • A portfolio or sample of your design
  • You can collaborate with various departments, such as programmers, artists and also consultants that just recently began their game development experience in the firm
  • Flexible with technology and open to changing your workflow to fit the team
  • You are open to receiving feedback from colleagues
  • Ability to work with deadlines

It would be nice if you have experience with:
  • Unity, any other game engine experience could also be relevant
  • Experience with working in a video games studio and knowledge of the industry
  • Inspiration from similar of different games

The position can either be onsite, hybrid, or remote, part time or full-time. As we are currently seeking funding, the position will be unpaid but can contribute to an internship. Our offices are located in three locations: Copenhagen at Amager/Nørrebro and Frederiksberg.

We generally invite shortlisted candidates for a meeting midway through the process and then again for a meeting near the end. You can apply as long as this is open. We expect to hold meetings during these dates: July 5 to and July 22 to July 31, we offer both onsite and online meetings.
