Complete your environmental management internship in Costa Rica and contribute to biodiversity conservation through projects carried out in collaboration with local communities. Depending on your interests and profile, you may take part in reforestation, permaculture, or sea turtle conservation initiatives while developing your skills in environmental management and applied ecology.

Supervised by local teams, you will participate in hands-on field projects that have a direct impact on ecosystem restoration and the protection of endangered species.

Your Missions

  • Participate in reforestation programmes and the planting of native species.
  • Monitor wildlife and contribute to the preservation of natural habitats.
  • Take part in permaculture, composting, and soil regeneration projects.
  • Set up and maintain sustainable irrigation systems.
  • Collect seeds and learn about sustainable farming techniques.
  • Contribute to sea turtle conservation through beach patrols, nest monitoring, scientific data collection, and the release of hatchlings during the appropriate season.
  • Participate in community initiatives such as beach clean-ups, recycling projects, and environmental awareness activities.

Tasks are adapted according to the season, the needs of the projects, and your profile.

Profile

This internship is particularly suitable for students in environmental management, ecology, biology, sustainable development, agronomy, life sciences, or environmental engineering who are looking to gain hands-on experience within an international conservation project.

Additional Information

This internship is unpaid. In the vast majority of countries, there is no legal requirement to provide financial compensation to interns. Our partner host organisations operate within different local economic and legal frameworks, where hosting international interns is based on training and cultural exchange rather than remuneration.

Accommodation, meals, and transportation costs are paid before your departure. This advance payment allows RealStep to confirm and secure all your accommodation and local services with our partners before your arrival, ensuring that all logistics are already in place before you leave.
