As a Mechanical Engineer you will join our Hardware team in Bordeaux and work closely with Quentin, our Head of Hardware.

Pony operates a fleet of 12,000 e-bikes and scooters deployed across 23 cities in Europe. At the heart of our offer is our double-pony, the only long-tail two-seater e-bike available in free-floating shared mobility, a vehicle we design and improve entirely in-house. Our hardware team continuously iterates on it based on field testing and operational feedback, driven by a culture of operational excellence.

Within the vehicles team, you'll work hand in hand with our senior mechanical engineer and take ownership of a wide scope from day one.

Main Responsibilities

R&D & Prototyping

You'll maintain and improve our vehicle's 3D models, design new parts and produce manufacturing drawings. You'll prototype your own designs using our in-house 3D printing setup, and validate their integration and performance on the actual vehicle. You'll also help identify and engage production partners for manufactured parts.

Testing & Validation

Based on insights from the senior team, you'll design and run tests on alternative bike configurations, geometry, wheel size, electric assist strategy. You'll organise field trials, document results, and evaluate sourced components by installing and testing them yourself.

Continuous Field Improvement

You'll collect and analyse recurring issues reported by field teams, investigate root causes, whether component reliability, design, or process, and propose concrete improvements. You'll follow through on their implementation with our partners.

Maintenance & Documentation

You will support our maintenance teams on technical topics, handling part changes, testing rig needs, and day-to-day technical questions. You will contribute to improve existing procedures, write technical documentation, and work with operational teams to standardise practices.

Your Profile

Educational background: Master’s degree from a top engineering school

Professional experience: 1+ year experience in mechanical engineering within an industrial environment.

CAD & manufacturing: Proficient in 3D modeling, technical drawings, material selection, mechanical dimensioning, and common fabrication processes.

Curious and pragmatic: Technically curious across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. You move fast, test your assumptions, and adjust.

Communication: You communicate technical topics clearly across all levels, from field staff to management. You're comfortable managing relationships with industrial partners and subcontractors.

Bonus: Knowledge of electrical motors or CAN communication.
