In this internship, you will contribute to the design of next-generation integrated UV photonicdevices based on imec's low-loss Aluminium Oxide waveguide technology. The main focus willbe on the simulation, design, and layout of integrated spectrometers and frequency-selectivefilters for fluorescence detection systems operating in the UV and bluewavelength range. Target will be to include 2 types of structures - coarsesensitivity with broad range, and fine sensitivity with narrower range.
You will usestate-of-the-art photonic design tools to develop components such as arrayedwaveguide gratings, echelle gratings, ring resonators, and other spectralfiltering architectures. The work includes optical simulations, performanceoptimization, mask layout generation, and design-for-fabricationconsiderations. Depending on the progress, you may also get the chanceparticipate in the analysis of fabricated devices and compare experimentalresults with your designs.
Type of internship: Master internship
Duration: 3-6 months, depending on student.
Required educational background: Electrotechnics/Electrical Engineering, Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, Physics, Bioscience Engineering, Other
University promotor: Pol Van Dorpe (KU Leuven)
Supervising scientist(s): For further information or for application, please contact Yashank Bansal (< correo electrónico eliminado por razones de seguridad >) and Pieter Neutens (< correo electrónico eliminado por razones de seguridad >)
