We are looking for a Process Safety Engineer to support major industrial projects across the energy, chemical, pharmaceutical, and advanced manufacturing sectors. In this role, you will help identify, assess, and mitigate process risks while ensuring facilities operate safely throughout their entire lifecycle.

Are you passionate about industrial safety and risk management? We are looking for a Process Safety Engineer to support major industrial projects across the energy, chemical, pharmaceutical, and advanced manufacturing sectors. In this role, you will help identify, assess, and mitigate process risks while ensuring facilities operate safely throughout their entire lifecycle.
Working within multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will contribute to projects from early concept development through engineering, commissioning, start-up, and operations.
Your day-to-day
- Conduct and facilitate Process Safety studies, including HAZID, HAZOP, FMECA, SIL/LOPA, and What-If analyses.
- Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) documentation, risk registers, and engineering deliverables.
- Perform consequence modelling and risk assessments using industry-standard tools.
- Provide process safety input throughout all project phases, from conceptual design and FEED to detailed engineering and execution.
- Collaborate with Process, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Layout teams to integrate inherently safer design principles.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including Seveso, ATEX, PED, ISO, API, and NFPA requirements.
- Prepare documentation for permitting processes, audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
- Participate in incident investigations, root-cause analyses, commissioning activities, and operational readiness reviews.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on risk reduction and strengthening safety culture.

What do we need from you?
- Based in Spain (Madrid or Barcelona preferred).
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Between 5 and 10 years of experience in Process Safety Engineering within industrial sectors such as Energy, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, or similar.
- Previous experience in consulting or engineering project environments is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of process engineering fundamentals and industrial safety standards.
- Proficiency with safety and consequence modelling software such as PHAST, Safeti, FLACS, or equivalent tools.
- Knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS, ESD, F&G) and related standards (IEC 61508 / IEC 61511).
- Fluent English is mandatory; additional languages are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and experience facilitating technical workshops.
- Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
