A51 is a biotech start-up developing programmable RNA to modulate cellular states in health and disease. Backed by top-tier Silicon Valley VC and based at the PC’UP deeptech incubator in the heart of Paris, A51 is a winner of the national i-Lab innovation competition and part of the 2025 Future 40 cohort, a recognition that places A51 among the top 4 percent of start-ups.

We are committed to making biology engineerable by rapidly designing functional RNAs that modulate cell behaviour. Beyond treating disease, this opens the door to regenerative medicine and real-time cellular reprogramming. We are a global, ambitious, and interdisciplinary team spanning wet lab, computation, AI, and engineering, working on one of the most promising technologies in biotech.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Running molecular biology workflows (PCR, cloning, gel electrophoresis, sequencing, sample prep)
  • Working with bacterial strains and mammalian cells containing computational RNA circuits
  • Operating and analysing experiments using FACS, fluorescence microscopy, and other imagingbased screens
  • Running Oxford Nanopore sequencing workflows from end-to-end including library prep and barcoding strategies
  • Contributing to experimental design with molecular-, cell-, and computational biology, and microfluidics scientists
  • Maintaining orderly lab notebooks and participating in team discussions around data and strategy

What you bring:

  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s (Licence) or Master’s program, engineering school, or equivalent program in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, sequencing), bacterial or mammalian cell culture
  • Interest in imaging techniques based on fluorescence like fluorescence microscopy and cytometry
  • Curiosity, rigor, willingness to learn, and comfort working in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to communicate in English (French is a plus)

Nice to have:

  • Experience with primary data analysis and molecular cloning (Matlab, Python, Fiji, FlowJo, Geneious)
  • Exposure to cell biology, synthetic biology, gene circuits, and phenotypic screening
  • Prior internship in an experimental lab or a biotech company

What you will learn:

  • How to run end-to-end experimental workflows bridging computation and wet lab
  • How biological circuits can be engineered, screened, and optimized to program biology
  • How to design and execute high-throughput experiments and analyze sequencing based and fluorescence imaging based readouts
  • How early-stage biotech start-ups build technology, test hypotheses, and move fast without sacrificing rigor

Compensation and start date:

  • Paid internship per French standards
  • Start date in June 2026 for a 6 month period
