Are you analytically sharp and interested in how artificial intelligence can support learning and teaching? Then we have an exciting opportunity for you at Aarhus BSS.

We are looking for a student programmer for a research and development project on agentic AI companions, learning analytics, and data-driven educational innovation in Business Intelligence courses.

About the job

As a student programmer, you will be affiliated with a research and development project on the use of agentic AI companions in Business Intelligence courses at Aarhus BSS. The project develops, tests, and evaluates AI-based learning assistants that can support students in accessing course materials, receiving feedback, and organising their learning process.

The aim is to examine how responsible use of AI can contribute to more adaptive, personalised, and data-informed learning experiences. The project combines educational development, generative AI tools, learning analytics, experimental implementation, and quantitative analysis of learning outcomes, student satisfaction, workload, and system interactions.

You will become part of an academically stimulating project environment and gain hands-on experience with the use of AI and data analysis in a real educational setting.

As our new student programmer, your tasks will include:

  • assisting with the development, testing, and documentation of AI-based learning tools, including AI companions for course materials, feedback, and study support
  • helping to structure and adapt course materials so they can be used in AI-based learning environments
  • collecting, cleaning, and structuring data from surveys, teaching activities, and, when relevant, system logs
  • contributing to quantitative analyses of learning outcomes, satisfaction, workload, and interaction with AI tools
  • preparing reports, figures, and visualisations of the project results
  • assisting with literature searches and summaries of research on AI in education, adaptive learning, self-regulated learning, and learning analytics
  • collaborating with the project team to ensure that the insights are relevant, useful, and well documented.

About you

We expect you to have an interest in AI and educational technology, and to be motivated to contribute to a research project with both practical and academic ambitions. You do not need to be an expert in all areas, but you should be curious, structured, and willing to learn.

We imagine that you:

  • have experience with quantitative methods and data management
  • have experience with programming, for example in Python, R, or similar
  • have an interest in AI, generative AI, learning technology, or business analytics
  • preferably have experience with survey data, experimental designs, text data, or visualisations
  • can work independently, in a structured way, and with attention to detail
  • are enrolled in a relevant higher education programme, for example business intelligence, psychology, education, data science, information systems, business analytics, economics, or similar

Experience with generative AI tools, prompt engineering, API use, learning analytics, or experimental methods is an advantage, but not a requirement. Some tasks will involve programming, especially in relation to testing AI-based tools, supporting retrieval-augmented generation setups, and assisting with data collection and analysis. However, the position also includes non-programming tasks such as literature searches, documentation, preparation of teaching materials, and reporting.

Do you have any questions?

If you have questions about the positions, you are welcome to contact the researcher responsible for the project: Associate Professor Ana Alina Tudoran, [email protected].

Terms of employment

The position as student programmer is a fixed-termemployment for 12 months, starting on 1 November 2026.

The workplace is Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University.

The working time is expected to be approximately 9hours on average per week. There will be an opportunity for flexible organization of working hours by agreement with the immediate supervisor, including in connection with exam periods.

Application

If you wish to be considered for the position, please send a short motivated application, CV, relevant documentation of your current education, and any documentation of previous relevant employment and other qualifications. Deadline: 15 September 2026

In your application, you are welcome to briefly describe your experience with data analysis, programming, AI tools, or education-related projects.
