What if your first years in the field of data science and software development were not only about maintenance, but about shaping systems?

At NORDEN, we empower global trade through data, technology and deep industry knowledge. Behind every decision, there is a need to understand risk, navigate uncertainty and create transparency. That is where you come in.

This is a role for someone who is still developing their technical toolbox but is interested in learning, ask questions and grow in a business where technology is closely connected to real-world decisions.

You will not be handed a narrow set of development tasks. Instead, you will be supported by experienced colleagues while gradually taking on more responsibility, exploring new ideas and helping shape solutions from concept to production in a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing and curiosity are valued.

Why this role?

This role sits at the intersection of software development, engineering and business understanding.

You will work across the full development lifecycle, from understanding business challenges and designing architecture to implementing solutions and ensuring stable operations in production. At the same time, you will gain unique insights into risk management, finance and decarbonisation in a global shipping company.

As a Data Scientist in our Risk Management team, you will help build the systems that support risk measurement, financial performance analysis and decarbonisation initiatives across our business.

You will work with modern technologies in Azure and be part of a team that develops and owns its solutions end-to-end. This means you will see the direct impact of your work and can continuously improve and evolve the systems you build.

Most importantly, you will join a friendly, collaborative and people-focused environment where your ideas are welcomed, your development is supported and your contributions genuinely matter. You will join six teammates in Risk and Financial Analytics who pair an understanding of the business with technical know-how to deliver effective solutions.

What you will be doing

As a Data Scientist, you will play an important role in developing and maintaining analytical solutions that support key business decisions across NORDEN.

Among other things, you will:

  • Build scalable and maintainable software systems using clean, efficient and well-tested code.
  • Design, develop and support business-critical applications running in Azure.
  • Explore opportunities for applying AI to improve processes and create value.
  • Develop a good understanding of shipping and the business logic behind our systems.
  • Support risk analysts, voyage performance analysts and finance business partners with reliable and timely solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our architecture, development practices and operational setup.

What you bring

We want a person who enjoys learning, approaches challenges with insight and uses technology to create solutions.

You likely have:

  • 0-2 years of experience in working in software systems.
  • A degree within a relevant technical, economic or mathematical field.
  • A genuine interest in software development and building robust solutions.
  • Experience with, or an interest in, Azure Cloud technologies.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced English communication skills and the legal right to work in Denmark.

Beyond your technical skills, you enjoy collaborating with others and are comfortable engaging with a variety of stakeholders across the organisation. You are curious, open to new ideas and motivated by continuously improving how things are done.

If you are interested in bringing together software development, business insight and modern cloud technologies at a global company where your work makes a clear difference, we would like to hear from you.

Application

Please upload your motivation letter, resume and relevant diplomas via our website as soon as possible and no later than 21 September. Your motivation letter helps us understand what drives you, why you are interested in the role, and how your skills and experiences could contribute to the team. We are especially interested in your motivation and transferable skills, not a recap of your CV. It is your opportunity to tell us the story behind your application.

We review and interview candidates on an ongoing basis.

We will do our best to get back to you at least within ten working days after the application deadline, 21 September.

In NORDEN we value a range of perspectives, educational backgrounds and professional experience and encourages all qualified candidates to apply.
