Student project: CT pipeline ADC for arrayed readout system

*Important for non-EU students: You'll need to be registered at a Dutch university to meet immigration requirements.

What you will do

Toachieve a small-area, low-power-consumption ADC for an arrayed readout system, the signal filters in front and the digital signal post-processing also need tobe considered. This project focuses on CT pipeline ADCs for their wide signalbandwidth and inherent anti-aliasing feature, and further investigates theirtrade-off of using complex digital reconstruction filters for post-processing.Aiming to look for a new balance of design effort between analog ADC anddigital filters, you will do:
  • Literature studies on state-of-the-art continuous time ADCs
  • Architecture study and proposal
  • Thesis writing and documentation
  • Circuit implementation including layout
  • In case of high-quality design: a chance to go through the whole tape-out procedure

What we do for you

You will be working in an inspiring high-tech environment, located within the Holst Centre in Eindhoven, and part of the larger IMEC organization, world-leader in R&D on nanotechnology and electronics. You will receive supervision from world-renown researchers in the field of ADCs, and collaborate with experts in different technical fields. You will get the opportunity to experience all steps of a research project, from architecture design to chip fabrication and possibly measurements.

Who you are

  • You are a MSc student
  • You are available for a period of 9-12 months
  • Good analytical skills (e. g. Mathematical skills)
  • Good CAD skills (e. g. MATLAB/Cadence) is a plus
  • Knowledges of designing CMOS circuits and system
  • Knowledges of signal processing and data converters
  • Motivated student eager to work independently and expand knowledge in the field
  • Good written and verbal English skills
