  • Infrared Gas Sensing: A Smarter Way to Protect Industrial Workers 🔒

Honeywell has introduced a new infrared gas‑sensing technology designed to help keep workers safe in some of the world’s toughest industrial environments—from oil and gas refineries to mining operations. What’s Happening? Industrial sites often rely on gas detectors to warn workers about flammable hydrocarbons like methane, propane, or butane. Honeywell’s new 4‑Series NDIR Hydrocarbon Gas Sensor upgrades that protection with optical infrared technology that’s more accurate, more durable, and more reliable than traditional catalytic bead sensors. The sensor is built to slot directly into fixed or portable gas detectors used across facilities, underground tunnels, or processing plants. It’s engineered to withstand harsh conditions—dust, humidity, temperature swings—and includes a condensation‑reduction system that helps maintain performance in confined or moisture‑heavy environments. Because it resists “poisoning” and uses less power than older sensor types, it helps reduce false alarms, extend battery life, and improve overall uptime. In short, it’s a tougher, smarter way to detect dangerous gases before they become a threat. Why It Matters 🛡️ Better protection for workers More accurate detection of flammable gases means earlier warnings and safer operations—especially in high‑risk industries like mining, petrochemicals, and plastics manufacturing. Built for harsh environments The sensor is designed to keep working even when exposed to dust, methane leaks, humidity, or extreme temperature changes—conditions that can degrade traditional sensors. Lower maintenance, fewer false alarms High poisoning resistance and low power consumption help reduce sensor failures and extend the life of portable detectors. The new sensor is now available for integration into industrial gas‑detection systems. • Made in Germany Starts Here: Growing Talent, Shaping the Future

Young talent is what keeps Germany’s industry moving, and Honeywell is putting its energy exactly where it matters: into local, hands‑on training that helps people build real careers right where they live⚙️ Across Lotte, Dormagen, and Mainz‑Kastel, apprentices are learning the skills from CNC machining to automation to mechatronics - in line with the "Made in Germany" label. It’s practical, future‑focused training with tech that’s shaping tomorrow’s factories. And it’s not just about filling roles. Honeywell’s training programs strengthen entire regions by creating skilled jobs, supporting local communities, and giving young people long‑term prospects close to home. You can see that in the stories of people like Kristina Anders in Lotte, who switched from media design to industrial mechanics because, as she puts it, “Automation is becoming increasingly important to remain competitive in the global market. I’m glad that Honeywell is supporting me in this.” Or Davide Giangualano in Dormagen, who wanted a mix of hands‑on and office work. “After my intermediate exam, I set myself goals: technician or master craftsman. I want to continue my education,” he says. And in Mainz‑Kastel, Elena Busse found her path after leaving university behind. “I wanted to do something practical,” she explains. “The profession has a future, and there will always be a need for someone to repair machines.” The future of German industry doesn’t start in big‑city labs - it starts in local workshops and training centers where people like Kristina, Davide, and Elena are learning, growing, and taking on responsibility.  Honeywell is committed to making that future happen. 🚀 Learn more 👉  Careers at Honeywell: https://careers.honeywell.com/ Stories about our people & technology: https://www.honeywell.com/us/en/news

  • Hybrid Heating: A New Way to Cut Industrial Emissions ⚡

Honeywell is rolling out a new Hybrid Heating Solution that helps manufacturers shrink their carbon footprint by blending natural gas and electricity for industrial heat - all controlled automatically and in real time. What’s Happening? Industrial heating usually relies on a single fuel source, often natural gas. Honeywell’s system changes that by letting manufacturers switch instantly between gas and electricity based on cost, availability, or emissions goals. The technology slots into existing equipment and can supply up to 30% of a facility’s heat using electricity. It also adds predictive diagnostics and remote monitoring, giving operators more visibility and control. In short, it’s a smarter, more flexible way to power high‑heat manufacturing. Why It Matters 🌍 Lower emissions: Facilities can tap into renewable electricity - including onsite wind, solar, or battery storage - to reduce the carbon footprint of their heating operations. Energy flexibility: Switching between fuels in real time helps companies avoid price spikes and reduce dependence on a single energy source. Operational efficiency: Automated controls and predictive insights make heating systems more reliable and easier to manage. The technology is already commercially available and in use following successful pilots! Interested in Honeywell?
