What You'll Do

As a Structural Calculation Engineer specialising in prefabricated elements, you will support the detailed structural design and assessment of prefabricated concrete and steel components used within major nuclear and infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in ensuring structural integrity, constructability, and compliance throughout the design and delivery lifecycle. Working within multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will contribute to technically robust solutions for complex structural systems while ensuring alignment with project standards, safety requirements, and delivery milestones.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and review detailed structural calculations for prefabricated concrete and steel elements in accordance with project requirements and applicable engineering standards.
• Perform structural assessments and analysis of prefabricated components during lifting, transportation, installation, and in-service conditions.
• Support the detailed design and verification of structural assemblies, connections, embeds, supports, and reinforcement arrangements.
• Develop technical justifications, engineering calculations, and design reports to support project deliverables and client requirements.
• Collaborate closely with civil, layout, construction, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure design integration and constructability.
• Review and assess design modifications, ensuring technical impacts are identified, justified, and managed appropriately.
• Support resolution of technical queries arising during fabrication, installation, and construction phases.
• Participate in technical coordination meetings, design reviews, and engineering discussions with internal teams, suppliers, and clients.
• Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, nuclear safety requirements, project procedures, and quality expectations.
• Contribute to maintaining design consistency, technical quality, and configuration control across structural work packages.
• Support optimisation activities to improve constructability, standardisation, and overall project efficiency.

Who You Are

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience working on structural calculations and detailed design activities relating to prefabricated structural elements within nuclear, infrastructure, industrial, or large-scale construction projects.
• Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and steel structural behaviour, including lifting and installation considerations.
• Familiarity with structural analysis methodologies, engineering calculations, and relevant design standards including Eurocodes.
• Experience producing structural calculation notes, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
• Comfortable working within multidisciplinary engineering environments and coordinating across technical interfaces.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams.
