  What if one researcher could do in weeks what used to take a large team several months?

  That's exactly what happened at Solvay. Using AI, one of our researchers reviewed more than 1,000 patents and scientific publications to identify new opportunities for bicarbonate applications. A task that would traditionally require a large team and several months was completed in around 200 hours, entirely in-house. This is one of the many ways AI is helping our researchers accelerate discovery and uncover new business opportunities. By combining human expertise with AI, we are building a more connected, data-driven and agile R&I ecosystem, unlocking the value of our scientific knowledge and focusing our talents on developing the next generation of sustainable solutions. It's one example of how we're transforming R&I to ensure Solvay remains Essential for generations.

  Great teams achieve more together

  We're proud to become the title partner of the Solvay Rugby Championship, the premier national rugby championship in Belgium. Just like rugby, innovation and progress happen when diverse talents work toward a common goal. Through our partnership with the Belgian Rugby Federation and the One Belgium Rugby initiative, we're supporting a vision that brings people together, develops talent and strengthens communities. For Solvay, this partnership is part of our broader commitment to supporting initiatives that bring people together, strengthen local communities, and create opportunities for future generations. With 18 men's and women's teams competing from across the country, this championship brings together the highest level of Belgian rugby talent. Here’s to a season filled with passion, performance and teamwork, on and off the field.

  Solvay is expanding its electronic grade hydrogen peroxide production in Taiwan

  As semiconductor demand grows, consistency becomes even more critical. Used to clean semiconductor wafers during chip manufacturing, electronic grade hydrogen peroxide needs to meet extremely high purity standards. As chips become smaller and more complex, even microscopic impurities can affect their performance. That’s where our Chemistry of Consistency comes in. The high-purity grades produced in Taiwan meet the same performance, quality and consistency standards as those supplied through Solvay’s global manufacturing network. By increasing local production, we are strengthening supply closer to our customers while maintaining the consistency advanced semiconductor manufacturing requires.

  The more familiar a task becomes, the easier it can be to stop noticing the risks.

  For Shunping Cai, Operations Manager and Safety Trainer-Coach at our Liyang site in China, familiarity can easily lead us into “automation mode”, where routine takes over and our attention starts to drop.   And even when a process or piece of equipment hasn’t changed, the environment around it might have. That means new risks can appear where we least expect them.   After more than 25 years working across different roles at Liyang, Shunping brings that experience to his work as a Safety Culture Transformation Trainer-Coach, helping teams build a more proactive approach to safety.   💬 His reminder: hazard identification isn’t something we do once. It requires us to keep looking, questioning and paying attention to what may have changed.

  This International Youth Day, we celebrated the young professionals bringing fresh ideas and new energy across Solvay. Through the Solvay Young Professionals Network (SYPN), colleagues from across the company come together to connect across generations, learn from one another and help shape our future. Because some of the best ideas emerge when people with different experiences come together and challenge each other's thinking

  For Ángela Entrecanales Monasterio, Safety Trainer-Coach at our Torrelavega site in Spain, that familiarity can become a risk, particularly when working around pinch points or sharp edges. Her approach starts with a conscious pause before beginning a task. Where will your hands be? Has anything changed? Is the right protection in place? And when she sees a colleague taking a risk, Ángela starts a conversation rather than simply pointing out what is wrong. 💬 “A strong safety culture relies on open, respectful conversations where we look out for each other.” That awareness, combined with the confidence to speak up, helps make safer habits part of everyday work.
