Disaster Management Intern — Community Resilience | Tanzania (On-site, Erasmus+)

Recognized in 2026 by the Tanzanian Government Prime Minister's Office for Humanitarian Work, and winner of the Community Development, International Volunteering & Sustainable Impact Excellence Award 2026.

Type: Internship / volunteer placement

Location: Communities, schools, and institutions around Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Duration: Flexible, year-round · 6–8 hrs/day, Monday–Friday

Ideal for: disaster management, emergency response, humanitarian studies, public health, development studies

Skills: risk assessment, community education, monitoring & reporting, field response, partnerships

About the role

Join an award-winning program helping communities prepare for and withstand disasters across all four pillars of the cycle — mitigation, preparedness, response and prevention — tackling floods, landslides, cholera outbreaks, drought and climate change. You'll work on real programs delivered in partnership with the UN, the Tanzanian Government, major corporates, and NGO networks.

What you'll do

  • Deliver practical fieldwork in schools and public spaces
  • Run community education on disaster risk and resilience
  • Support program planning, reporting, and monitoring
  • Drive visibility and outreach efforts
  • Take part in on-field disaster response alongside government and NGO partners when a disaster strikes
  • Partner-linked work with:
  • UN and the Tanzanian Government
  • Corporates: Twiga Cement
  • NGO networks: DINGONET, GERF and RAPID
