About Deerdata

Deerdata is a Stockholm-based data company helping organizations turn raw data into reliable, actionable insight. We build modern data platforms: pipelines, warehouses, and analytics layers, that our clients trust to run their business on. We are a small, senior team that values curiosity, craftsmanship, and a healthy work-life balance.

The role

As our Junior Data Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and analytics infrastructure for our clients. This is a hands-on role where you'll grow quickly, you'll write production code from your first weeks, with mentorship and code review from senior teammates. You'll touch the full data lifecycle: ingestion, modeling, transformation, orchestration, and serving data to downstream users.

What you'll do
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL
  • Develop data models and transformations in dbt against a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift)
  • Author and operate scheduled workflows in Airflow or Dagster
  • Deploy and monitor data infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Collaborate with analysts and clients to translate business questions into well-modeled data
  • Participate in code review, on-call rotation, and team improvement work

We're looking for someone who has
  • 0-2 years of professional experience (or strong internship/project work) in data engineering, software engineering, or analytics engineering
  • Solid working knowledge of Python and SQL
  • Exposure to at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and one modern data tool (dbt, Airflow, Dagster, or a cloud warehouse)
  • A degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong written and spoken English; Swedish is a plus but not required
  • Curiosity, willingness to ask questions, and care for the quality of your work

Nice to have
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), containers (Docker), or CI/CD
  • Open-source contributions or personal data projects
  • Familiarity with streaming (Kafka), data quality tooling, or BI tools (Looker, Power BI, Metabase)

What we offer
  • A hybrid setup based in central Stockholm - typically 2-3 days in the office per week
  • Modern tech stack and real ownership from day one
  • Direct mentorship from senior data engineers
  • 30 days of paid vacation, occupational pension, and wellness allowance per Swedish standards
  • A flat, calm team culture that prioritizes deep work over busywork
