Job Description
Within the Agorai Innovation Hub we are looking for a talented and proactive resource, who will be the technical authority inside Agorai. This role provides the design of AI systems that actually work - in production - across use cases spanning insurance intelligence, industrial automation, and supply chain optimization. The Ai Architect will work directly with the Head of Technology, own the architecture of every solution we build, and lead external technical partners including Google Cloud, DGS, and specialist delivery firms.
The candidate will write code and be responsible for the correct functioning of the platform end to end, in production. The role involves technical scoping sessions with domain experts with our largest partners and translate business problems into AI architectures.
The Ai Architect will work closely with the Research Engineers on the team and be accountable for the technical quality of the solutions we build together.

Company Profile
Agorai is a B2B AI Innovation Hub founded in Trieste, Italy, backed by Generali, Fincantieri, Illy, and Regione FVG. Our mission is to HumanAIze the future - developing AI that is safe, responsible, and built to benefit humanity as a whole. We work on industrial and enterprise use cases, but also on projects with direct public benefit: public safety, territorial development, and societal challenges where AI can make a genuine difference. We build solutions we own, sell, and scale. We are at the very beginning: no bureaucracy, no legacy, high ambition.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Design end-to-end AI system architectures across our active use cases - from data ingestion and model serving to API contracts and observability;
- Evaluate technical feasibility of new use cases before any line of code is written;
- Set and enforce technical standards across all solutions: code quality, evaluation rigor, deployment practices, monitoring;
- Lead technical partners in the right architectural direction;
- Build and mentor the Research Engineering team, establishing the culture of a product engineering organization;
- Stay close to the research frontier in LLMs, knowledge graph integration, and multi-agent systems - and decide what is worth applying;
- Work on a genuinely hard and open research problem with direct industrial application.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering or a related STEM field;
- At least 3-5 years of experience designing, building, and deploying AI systems end-to-end, taking full ownership from architecture to production release, monitoring, and iteration - not limited to model handoff;
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience applying NLP or Computer Vision in real-world scenarios, working with production data and constraints (e.g., noise, scale, latency, reliability), beyond academic or benchmark settings;
- Experience working across one or more of the following sectors: Healthcare, Financial Services, Mobility/Transport, Agriculture.
Technical Skills
- Fluent across the stack: LLM-based systems, classical ML, APIs, microservices, inference optimization;
- Ability to critically evaluate AI models, architectures and their fitness-for-purpose in industrial applications;
- Familiarity with the full AI project lifecycle: from problem framing and data strategy to model deployment and monitoring
- Writing production-quality code and hold others to the same standard
Soft Skills & Personal Attributes
- Entrepreneurial mindset: takes ownership, operates with autonomy and drives things forward without waiting for direction;
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to interact effectively with both technical teams and C-suite executives or institutional clients
Languages
- English: Full professional proficiency required (primary working language for international projects and publications);
