Fun fact

We can’t overestimate enough the responsibility that art restorers carry on their shoulders. And if ever there were a worst art restorer competition, Spain might just top the charts, having hit the headlines on more than one occasion... In 2012, an amateur painter living near Zaragoza decided to have a go at restoring Ecce Homo by Elías García Martínez, to the delight of social media... Then in 2020, it was the turn of The Immaculate Conception of El Escorial, which was absolutely butchered by well-meaning restorers... In short, always call a professional!
