Where physics and biology meet, biophysicists study living organisms and biological phenomena using devices and experimental methods from the world of physics.
Fun fact
The first publicly-known living organism to have been studied by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was... a pepper! A green pepper, to be specific. In 1973, American chemist Paul Lauterbur captured the first image of a vegetable through nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Newton’s apple doesn’t even come close!
