Nuclear engineers work in all kinds of nuclear processes, from building power stations to decommissioning them, alongside their operation, maintenance and safety.
Fun fact
It sounds incredible, but it’s true. In 1950, an American toy company marketed a small atomic energy lab at children. The Gilbert U-238 kit contained uranium, polonium, as well as other radioactive materials. The aim was to educate children by letting them recreate and observe chemical and nuclear reactions. The ultimate tale of good intentions badly executed.
