Generally speaking, we tend to drink tap water without asking too many questions. And we don’t think too much about what happens after we flush the toilet... two luxuries we owe to water treatment engineers.
Fun fact
Just think: the average adult consumes 55m³ of water per year, and children 20m³. But rather than only using treated water, half of that water could easily come from harvesting rainwater. To clean the house or do the laundry, water the garden or refill the toilet cistern, collecting rainwater has more than one benefit, it will both reduce bills and protect the environment!
