How to learn and maintain new skills In the latest episode of the Dutch podcast “Growth Talk” by Talk to C, Jasper, an educational pedagogue at Deloitte, shares insights into how you can optimise your learning processes. Jasper discusses the neurological aspects of learning, the importance of repetition, and strategies for integrating new knowledge and skills into long-term memory. You will learn that learning is not a one-time event but a continuous journey. Whether in school or at work, it's crucial to revisit and refine new knowledge and skills regularly. Learning is not a one-shot deal. You must continuously repeat and refine new knowledge and skills. Learning is continuous Learning is a continuous process. You are constantly learning, which means you have to look for the right ways to educate yourself or acquire new knowledge or skills. Make learning a part of your daily routine, whether it's by revisiting lecture notes, or by engaging in discussions. The power of repetition One of the most important principles for effective learning is repetition. Scientific literature supports the idea that repeating and practising what you've learned contributes significantly to building expertise. Regularly review your study materials, practise, and revisit key concepts to enhance your understanding. Social learning Informal learning through social interactions can be incredibly valuable. Engaging with your peers or colleagues, asking questions, and being curious can lead to acquiring new knowledge and skills. Interact with others, join study groups, and participate in discussions. It gives you new perspectives and deepens your understanding of the topic. Tune in to hear more insights from Jasper and discover how you can enhance your learning journey. 🎧

Quick tips for successful exam preparation

With the exams coming up, we wanted to share some study tips to support you in getting through this period as efficiently as possible. So, we spoke with some of our interns and Arthur, a current Deloitter and student in business administration. Here’s what they had to say! To start with, a healthy lifestyle is very important. Moving regularly, but also taking the time to relax, will help you concentrate better. Going for a walk or run with a friend is a great way to do both at the same time.  Another tip is to make a study schedule. But, don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t manage to stick to the plan. Some topics might require more time than expected. Including some buffer days is a great way to avoid unnecessary stress. And remember that you’re not alone. If you don’t understand something, ask your friends or fellow students for help. They get to practice their knowledge and you get clarity, which is a win-win. By learning from each other, you can really unlock your full potential. That’s what we do at Deloitte too. We invest in our people’s growth, and we are working hard to make Deloitte a true coaching organisation, ensuring that everyone gets the support they need to thrive. Arthur, who combines his full-time job with studying and therefore knows how important it is to have a schedule, suggests really listening in class and understanding what you are studying. He also recommends the Pomodoro Technique: study with full concentration for 25 minutes, take a 5-minute break, and repeat. Also, don’t forget to revise! Revising is really important to keep all the information in your long-term memory. Moreover, it can help boost your confidence as you will be well prepared. Last but not least, choose the perfect place to study. Don’t know where to go? We’ve got you covered! Register here for a chance to join us at our Study League in the King Power At Den Dreef Stadium. This unique venue not only has a quiet space where you can concentrate on acing your exams, but it also has a relaxation zone where you can take a break and recharge. We wish you the best of luck with your exams and hope to see you at our Study League!

Where interns spark, learn and connect

Sometimes it can be difficult to find your place in a new environment, understand the culture of a new company, … That’s why it’s important that organisations invest in their interns, just like Deloitte does! The Interns Ignite Event was created to inspire and expand the network of former, current, and future interns. Inspiration Interns Ignite started with an engaging panel discussion. Some of Deloitte’s current interns, and former interns who now work for the firm, shared their first-hand experiences, shedding light on what it means to be a true Deloitte intern. The participants were invited to get involved and interact with the panellists during the Q&A session. To further enrich the experience, Deloitte also hosted three other inspiring sessions. First, Bram Doolaege, Founder & Partner of StreetwiZe, offered practical tips on how to manage personal talent development, encouraging the interns to reevaluate their beliefs about talent and success. Success is about dedication, effort, and practice. Not only about inherent talent. After that, the participants went on a speed date with former interns, extracting wisdom and advice. Finally, they took part in a quiz in smaller groups to get to know better Deloitte and its Belgian headquarters, the Gateway building. Networking More than anything, Deloitte’s Interns Ignite Event was an excellent opportunity to connect with other interns. Gateway was filled with chatter and laughter as the interns wrapped up the fantastic event by enjoying a pizza buffet and playing a game that gave them insights into their roles in a team setting and empowered them to forge new contacts with their peers. Start your internship Are you an ambitious student who is eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and exciting environment? Do you want to be an intern that receives the support they need to thrive and enjoy taking part in an event like Interns Ignite? Don’t let this opportunity pass you by!
