    Earth Day: Planet vs. Plastic

Did you know? Humanity produces over 430 million tons of plastic annually, with two-thirds of it becoming waste, polluting our oceans, and threatening our ecosystems (UNEP). The Swarovski Foundation promotes sustainable livelihoods through education to reduce inequality and addresses plastic pollution by supporting charities and investing in programs like Waterschool and Creatives For Our Future which promote innovative solutions to this global issue. You can take meaningful action by visiting earthday.org and other resources to educate yourself and others about plastic pollution, reduce single-use plastic consumption, upcycle plastic waste, participate in clean-up events, volunteer with environmental organisations and many more initiatives. Together, let us be part of the solution! #EarthDay #InvestInOurPlanet #SwarovskiFoundation

    Water For Peace

On World Water Day and beyond, the Swarovski Foundation advocate collective action for water, recognizing the pivotal role collaboration plays in advancing Water for Peace. Water can create peace or spark conflict. When water is scarce or polluted, or when people have unequal or no access, tensions can rise. 2.2 billion people still live without access to safe drinking water, including 115 million people who drink surface water (WHO/UNICEF). The Swarovski Foundation promotes sustainable livelihoods through education to reduce inequality and addresses global water challenges by ensuring equitable access to clean water. These efforts are achieved by working collaboratively with partners like the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center, Teach For Thailand, and BBC StoryWorks. The Swarovski Tiara

The Swarovski Tiara, which for decades has graced debutantes at the Vienna Opera Ball, one of the most prestigious events on the European social calendar, has been recently revealed. Designed by Swarovski Global Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert, the 2024 tiara is inspired by Austrian imperial jewelry and Swarovski’s Mesmera jewelry family. Each piece is meticulously crafted from 233 clear crystals in mixed cuts, cascading down from oversized stones to smaller cuts. Shining with grandeur, the tiara’s crystal stones are elegantly arranged like dancers on a ballroom floor and are crafted to glimmer in the light with every movement. As this year’s 160 debutantes glide into the Vienna State Opera on the arms of their escorts for the opening ceremony, their Swarovski diadems will crown them with a spellbinding radiance. It is a tradition that holds an iconic place in Austrian heritage – and in the heritage of Swarovski, which has created the debutantes’ tiaras for almost 70 years. Alexis Nasard, Swarovski CEO, commented: “We are honored to be part of this tradition, which epitomizes grace, beauty, and elegance. Swarovski have been masters of light since 1895, and this longstanding partnership with the Vienna Opera Ball unites two icons of Austrian culture whilst demonstrating Swarovski’s incredible savoir-faire.” Giovanna Engelbert, Swarovski Creative Director, commented: “I took my inspiration from my Mesmera jewelry family, both refined and dazzling by design. I hope the tiara will empower this year’s debutantes with an empress-like confidence, and when they take them home as mementos of a magical night, they will feel inspired to follow their dreams.” Bogdan Roscic, Director Vienna State Opera, commented: “Beautiful rituals have become rare and that may be why they are particularly fascinating nowadays. In the beautiful tradition of the Opera Ball, the debutantes’ tiaras certainly form an integral part. The ball guests at the Vienna State Opera, a television audience of millions and social media communities worldwide will once again witness the entry of the opening committee and the joy and pride of the tiara wearers in February. I am looking forward to the new design and the continuation of our long-standing cooperation with Swarovski.” The Swarovski tiara is a symbol of the unique savoir-faire that lies at the heart of our brand’s creations and a testament to our 129-year history.

At SWAROVSKI, we strongly believe in the power of education and the importance of nurturing young talent. Collaborating with Foundation Inspirujące Przykłady to make a visit of 13 bright and curious students from a local school at our Swarovski office possible, was a meaningful way to support our community and inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators. The visit included a tour of our office, where the students had the opportunity to see first hand how innovation, creativity, and dedication come together to create our world-renowned crystal products. They were also able to engage in conversations with our professionals, giving them insights into various career paths that await them at Swarovski. We hope that the knowledge and experiences gained during this visit will ignite a spark of inspiration in these students, motivating them to pursue their dreams with passion and determination.
