InCommodities Case Crunch 2026

On the agenda
A case competition that's anything but average!
In this 2026 edition, you’ll work with how complexity of price formation is shaped by uncertainty, system constraints, and constantly changing dynamics.
At InCommodities, we rethink and challenge the status quo through data, technology, and deep market understanding – and our Case Crunch is built on that exact mindset.
Are you up for the challenge?
This will be like stepping into real trading workflows – not a textbook case.
Over 70 hours, you’ll take on the role of an analyst at InCommodities and work on a data-intensive case focused on machine learning-based forecasting of European electricity spot prices.
Working in teams of two, you’ll:
- Explore large, real-world datasets
- Engineer features and build forecasting models
- Evaluate performance and robustness
- Turn forecasts into actionable insights under realistic market conditions
This is an end-to-end challenge that mirrors how trading decisions are actually made. Forecasts only matter if they can be turned into decisions – and ultimately impact PnL. Trade-offs between accuracy, robustness, and performance are part of the task.
Strong technical skills in coding and modeling will take you far. Strategic thinking about markets, risk, and decision-making will take you further.
Why crunch this case?
InCommodities Case Crunch 2026 offers a hands-on introduction to how advanced analytics, forecasting, and trading logic come together at InCommodities – and what it takes to compete at the forefront of energy trading.
