About the team and the role:

The Advertising team is building the systems that power how ads are created, managed, delivered, and surfaced across eBay. Our work helps sellers promote their businesses more effectively while creating useful, relevant advertising experiences for buyers.

This role sits within the Ads engineering organization, supporting promoted stores ads, brand advertising, creative delivery, and brand-related data workflows. The team owns critical parts of the ads delivery pipeline, including the tools and services that help internal teams manage creatives, monitor workflows, and support high-quality ad experiences across eBay.

We are looking for a strong software engineer with deep frontend expertise and the ability to work across the stack when needed. The role is primarily frontend-focused, with significant work on creative experiences, internal portals, workflow tools, reusable UI patterns, and backend-for-frontend integrations.

You will partner with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and cross-functional partners to develop, build, test, and iterate on reliable, accessible, and high-performing product experiences. This is an opportunity to shape the frontend direction for important advertising workflows while contributing to systems that operate at eBay scale.

What you will accomplish:
  • Build and evolve frontend experiences for ads creatives, promoted stores advertising, internal portals, and workflow management tools.
  • Contribute to backend-for-frontend services that enable frontend functionality, data access, and system integration.
  • Improve the efficiency, reliability, and visibility of systems used to support ads operations across eBay.
  • Develop intuitive, accessible, responsive, and high-performing user experiences for internal users and partner teams.
  • Develop reusable UI components, shared frontend patterns, and design-system-aligned interfaces that improve developer efficiency.
  • Partner with product and design to translate operational needs into polished, practical product experiences.
  • Integrate frontend applications with REST APIs, GraphQL, Node.js services, and backend systems that support ads delivery workflows.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to deliver iterative improvements while maintaining high standards for quality, performance, accessibility, maintainability, and security.
  • Work in a modern engineering environment, using automation and AI-assisted tools thoughtfully where they improve engineering quality and delivery.

What you will bring:
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong frontend engineering skills with JavaScript or TypeScript, React, HTML5, CSS3, and common state management patterns.
  • Deep understanding of frontend architecture, component design, reusable UI libraries, browser behavior, and maintainable interface patterns.
  • Ability to build responsive, user-centered applications with strong attention to UX detail, accessibility, frontend performance, site speed, and web security.
  • Hands-on work with Node.js, backend-for-frontend patterns, service integrations, and RESTful APIs that support rich frontend workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Java, Scala, or similar backend technologies for API and service development.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, software design, and hands-on problem solving.
  • Strong development practices across UI and service-layer testing, source control, code review, CI/CD, and Agile software delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate across product, design, and engineering teams while managing concurrent work and shifting priorities.
