Hello, we're L'Oréal. We're not just building brands, we're shaping how the world experiences beauty (and it takes a lot of cool jobs to do it). Intrigued? Keep reading, this might be the opportunity you've been searching for.

A Day in the Life

As a Patent Engineer within our Intellectual Property Department, you will play a vital role in protecting and leveraging our innovations in the field of skincare and makeup, a sector at the frontier of dermo-cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

Your main responsibilities will be to:
  • Build a protective strategy: You will help build and manage our patent portfolio, including drafting new applications, overseeing prosecution procedures in France and abroad, and handling oppositions.
  • Ensure our freedom to operate: You will conduct freedom-to-operate analyses to secure the launch of our new products and technologies.
  • Act as a strategic partner: You will advise and support our research teams and business stakeholders on all patent-related issues, providing your technical and legal expertise.
  • Collaborate on a global scale: You will interact daily with a multicultural and international network of internal experts, particularly in China, Japan, and the United States.

We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone with dual technical and legal expertise, who can thrive in an innovative and international environment. Your autonomy, attention to detail, and collaborative spirit will be key to your success.

The ideal candidate has:
  • A strong technical background in organic chemistry, galenics, cosmetics, or pharmacy, with valued experience at the interface of health and beauty.
  • Proven expertise in patent law (drafting, freedom-to-operate studies) in Europe, with a good knowledge of international procedures (PCT, US, JP, CN).
  • At least 3 years of experience in the industry and/or in a private practice firm.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • You are a qualified European Patent Attorney (or on track to become one) and are fluent in both French and English.

What's In It For You
  • A place for you to leave your comfort zone and grow beyond your potential (here, you'll be encouraged to try new things and take risks!)
  • Real responsibility from day 1, there's no sitting on the sidelines at L'Oréal
  • An environment where people of every ethnicity, social background, age, religion, gender and sexual orientation as well as people with disabilities are accepted, can speak up, will thrive and are celebrated!
  • A place where you can contribute to something bigger! Many of our brands have societal /environmental causes to make concrete difference
