Meet QINGLING SHEN, Global IT Retail Manager at Christian Dior Couture, and discover her #DreamInDior experience as she takes you behind-the-scenes of her métier in IT at the center of the D-Next department.

What does #DreamInDior mean for you and what amazes you the most in your work?

My dream began when I left China to explore the world of French luxury – Christian Dior, where history and heritage blend with innovation and creativity. From Paris to Shanghai, Dior is recognized as a symbol of elegance, excellence, and timeless craftsmanship with a global influence. To live, work in Christian Dior, and be part of the Dream is to dive into the culture of Dior and step into a world where every detail matters. In Dior’s retail world, customer experience is everything. IT plays a key role in ensuring this experience is not only seamless but also personalized, flawless, and consistent across all touch points, just as refined as the Dior products themselves.

How does Dior help you grow on a daily basis?

Working in Dior means adhering to the highest standards of quality and excellence, which continually challenges me to improve my skills and work ethic. Additionally, understanding the importance of exceptional customer service in this environment helps me develop essential soft skills, such as communication and problem-solving, which are valuable in any IT role. The nature of our projects also requires strong collaboration and project management skills, further enhancing my professional growth every day.

When facing challenges, who do you rely on and why?

When facing challenges, I primarily rely on my manager and skilled team members. My manager Charles Baudelot has a wealth of experience and a strategic perspective that helps me navigate complex situations. They provide valuable guidance and insights, which are essential for making decisions. Additionally, I often turn to my team members for example Laurent Rivillon, he has specialized skills and a deep understanding of our Retail projects. Collaborating with him allows me to brainstorm solutions and tap into their expertise, ensuring we tackle challenges effectively as a team. Together, their support helps me grow and enhances our overall performance.

What does it mean for you to be an ally to diversity, equity, and inclusion?

As a foreigner managing a diverse team with members from different nationalities and language backgrounds, I make sure to respect and understand their cultural differences. I strive to create an environment where everyone’s perspectives are valued, and all team members have a voice, regardless of their background.

What advice would you give to future #DiorTalents?

Stay updated on luxury industry trends and tech innovations. Learn the basics of IT and retail, and develop soft skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving—these are as important as technical skills. Familiarize yourself with retail tools and software through online courses, if you're new. Show enthusiasm for both the luxury industry and technology, as this can make you stand out.
