LGBTQ+ Allyship: The House of Dior invites you to explore our DEI initiatives as part of LVMH Voices of Inclusion Week

At #Dior, we are designers of sustainable futures.
On the occasion of LVMH’s Voices of Inclusion Week, Christian Dior Couture is proud to shed light on some of our initiatives in favor of Diversity & Inclusion. LVMH Group and the House of Dior will showcase year-round actions and initiatives promoting Diversity & Inclusion.
Today, let’s focus on one of the many Dior Talents dedicated to designing sustainable futures alongside the House. Meet Michael Coco, Senior Planner – Distribution at Christian Dior Couture Americas and discover their commitments, values, and inspirations through an exclusive, inclusive interview.
1. What does #DreamInDior mean for you and what amazes you the most in your work?
Working at Dior means being a part of a legacy of Dreams. It amazes me to be working with expert Talents in luxury, where everyone is valued and celebrated for their specific perspective and background. #DreamInDior means my authentic self and unique point of views are seen as assets to my professional role and position.
2. Can you tell us more about your experience leading the LGBTQIA+ History Month communications? Why was this important for you?
I am dedicated to offering as much space and agency to all marginalized people/groups as I can. All of us working on the LGBTQIA+ History Month feel it is important to have this communication showcase our diversity and the intersectionality between queerness and the world at large. In leading this, I was able to learn things about this incredible community I am a part of that I did not know prior to working on this communication, and being able to share that new knowledge with Dior Americas was very special. We spend so much of our time together as colleagues, it is important to me that I learn as much as I can about who my colleagues are as people. Empathy is vital.
3. What does it mean for you to be an ally for diversity, equity, and inclusion?
The work is too important to sit on the sidelines. I feel driven by my own identity, by the people I love, the state of the world, and my passion to empower. It is more than allyship to me. DEI means I can, as an individual person in this world, help to change minds and offer agency, even if it is in the smallest ways.
4. What advice would you give to future #DiorTalents aiming to promote a culture of DEI?
My advice would be to ask yourself: how can I help? And what help do I need? If you feel driven to speak up, do it. If you don’t know what to say, just listen. It is okay. DEI effects lives and people. Stay humble, stay grounded, and learn from your peers.
