Product Discovery Conference

Who knew, you don't have to be a UX designer to research user insights?!
Our consultant Eyon attended the Product Discovery Conference organised by Reveall in Amsterdam last week, where they learned how user insights are linked to a robust decision-making process. Through a series of tools, templates and best practices, they explored how to maximise a product's chances of success in the marketplace.
Here are the key points to remember highlighted by Eyon:
+ Test it as if you really wanted it: Don't interview users for the sake of it. Feedback must be processed, shared and easily accessible to help the product make informed decisions.
+ Don't let good data go to waste: You have good internal data, use your analytics, collaborate with the support team. They hold invaluable information for understanding "what my users are doing". You can then supplement the quantitative data with user tests to find out "why they do it".
+ From the bottom up, everyone needs to know the company's strategy: and we don't mean just writing it in big letters on a wall. Every member of the team needs to know how their contribution is a step towards achieving the common goal. And if a task is not linked to the company's strategy, it's better not to do it.
+ Don't cross the road without looking: don't launch a product without user feedback. It's risky and you won't benefit from it. There are better ways to cross the road.
