🌊 Teams from Eurofins AquaSense, a Eurofins Environment Testing company in the Netherlands, recently completed two intensive winter fieldwork weeks in the North Sea. On behalf of Rijkswaterstaat and in close collaboration with Waardenburg Ecology, and the NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, experts collected seabed samples in and around designated sand extraction areas.

These surveys support a long-term programme that monitors how marine ecosystems recover after sand is removed for coastal and infrastructure projects.

Species caught on board were identified, measured and released, providing rapid insight into local seabed conditions. For further insight into the small benthic organisms, underwater soil samples were collected for detailed laboratory analysis.
